The 13th annual Patriot Tour returned to Erie, after starting here in May.

The Patriot Tour is compromised of hundreds of bikers, who each take turns in carrying an American flag across all 50 states in the country.

This year, the flag was taken from the mast of Erie's Brig Niagara, and was returned to it's home city earlier today in Liberty Park.

The event is held by Nation of Patriots, a nonprofit aimed to raise money for veterans in need.

"[It's} an all volunteer effort to pass one American flag around the entire United States," said Founder and CEO of Nation of Patriots, Bill Sherer.

"All 50 states, including Hawaii and Alaska. We passed the flag in honor of America's armed forces members past, present and fallen. And along the way, the flag stops in 115 different locations, and we raise money for the families of wounded veterans in those locations."

Officials estimate there was over 175 bikers, all riding Harley-Davidsons, who joined on the last leg of the flag's journey.

The final hand off was held in Liberty Park, and featured music and food.

"Bringing the flag back to Erie, where it started this year, it's a good experience and it's not something I can put into words," said Doug Roxberry, Co-Chair of Patriot Tour of Pennsylvania. "It's something you can only experience by being here."

Donors can give to the Patriot Tour on their website.
