Around 4 p.m. today, a single shot was fired a the Millcreek Mall, near the entrance of Macy's by the food court, after of a group of individuals, believed to be juveniles, got into a fight.

Millcreek Mall spokesman Joe Bell says the shot was fired into the ceiling, and no one was injured by the gunshot.

Millcreek Police say it was "an altercation between specific individuals," and "did not appear to be a random act."

One person, a 35-year-old male, was taken to the hospital for facial injuries following the fight, but was not shot.

Dustiny Gagean was working at the Dunkin' in the food court when the shot went off.

"We were serving coffee," said Gagean. "A fight broke out. A girl walked up to us and started screaming, asking us to get mall security. Then we heard a gunshot."

She says that, like other businesses in the area, she and her coworkers hid in the back rooms, waiting for someone to tell them it was safe to come out.

"We all turned out lights," continued a shaken-up Gagean. "We sat down. We were trying to comfort each other. It's just, it's sad what the world world's coming to."

Other guests and employees immediately evacuated the mall.

The mall briefly re-opened around 5 p.m. following the gunshot, although many businesses within the mall itself decided to let their staff off early. The mall re-closed shortly after.

Police were able to apprehend two suspects, with one found shirtless, hiding behind the Men's Warehouse south of the mall. Police say they are currently interviewing people, and the investigation is ongoing. Due to the age of the suspects, police say information is likely to be limited.

"We always work closely with our local police department and we have a great security staff," said Karrie George, Marketing Director for the Millcreek Mall. "So thankfully it was something that was handled very rapidly before it was able to escalate."
