The official fall season starts this Thursday, meaning that flu season is just around the corner.

The start of flu season depends on the weather to a degree, with the worst of the outbreak peaking during the coldest months. This is when most people spend their time indoors and in close contact.

According to LECOM's Vaccine Coordinator Jim Caputo, this year's flu season is expected to be worse than previous years because we now have less masking and no social distancing restrictions.

LECOM has been working in conjunction with the Erie County Health Department to bring vaccine clinics to the area. Their clinics provide both the Flu and Covid-19 vaccines.

"It is very medically acceptable to get both shots at the same time," Said Jim. "I think there's a bit of a personal choice there simply because of the side effects associated."

The walk-in clinic is available Tuesday 9am-7pm and Friday 9am-5pm at the LECOM Center for Health and Aging.
