Pennsylvanians who struggle to put food on the table can soon get some extra help.
 
The PA Department of Human Services is raising the income eligibility thresholds for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP.
 
Formerly known as food stamps, the SNAP program helps 1.8 million Pennsylvanians purchase groceries.
 
On October 1, the PA Department of Human Services is raising the income eligibility thresholds to 200 percent of the Federal Income Poverty Guidelines (FPIG).
 
The change expands the program to an additional 420,000 Pennsylvanians, who will receive an average of $63.00 a month.
 
Here are the household monthly income limits under the new guidelines:
