The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) are reminding Pennsylvania residents to recycle any gently used household items, such as furniture and clothing to curb pollution.

The DEP estimates that approximately 10% of the municipal waste stream is made up of textiles, furniture, and other household goods.

Additionally, the DEP is encouraging residents to use the following resource to help provide direction and insight on how to properly recycle their household items.

The DEP said one way Pennsylvanians can be mindful of different ways they can reduce, reuse, and recycle household goods and clothing is to consider shopping at secondhand retailers.
