Two years after graduating from DuBois Area High School in 1966, Gary Haythorn found himself in Vietnam.
He signed up to join the Coast Guard and it led to a 25-year career in the Military.
He's battled prostate cancer since 2010 and he's not sure of being exposed to Agent Orange caused his illness.
He does know about helping Veterans.
It's been part of his daily mission since he retired as a CPA in 2001.
He told Erie News Now, "I encourage people to visit the V.A. because of my father. He's a World War II Veteran and he used his benefits at the V.A."
For Haythorn, every visit has a special meaning.
"You never know who you will run into, and they are in worse shape. It makes you want to reach out and help other Veterans."
