Vietnam Reflection Series Features Oil City High School Graduate
After his High School Graduation, John Healy said, "He majored in student union life," and that led him to a tour of duty in Vietnam.
When he signed up at the recruiting office, he was told he would not be in Vietnam.
He told Erie News Now, "But of course, I ended up in Vietnam. I was not a combat soldier, but our area was a target of rockets at times."
Healy worked in finance, "making sure everyone was paid on time."
It's been 55 years since he served in Vietnam, and he has a message for the individuals he worked with.
"Recognize we made a mistake over there and how that happened. I think we made a mistake, but be proud of yourself and be proud of your Country. "
John's brother William also served in Vietnam.
His brother Richard was a Naval Officer in the 1960's.
