Children had the opportunity to pick out toys, clothing, and tasty snacks as well as bond with local law enforcement at this year's Shop with a Cop event.

Monday was the first of four shopping trips scheduled for the month of December.

Charles Andersen, a patrolman with the Conewago Police Department, says that about 100 children are scheduled to go shopping with an officer this holiday.

The event is designed to benefit families and children in the community that are in financial need.

"We're hoping it gets bigger and better every year," said Andersen. "Without the support of our community and our Fraternal Order of Police Lodge, we wouldn't be able to do this."

Thanks to community support, over $14,000 were raised for the event.

To further fundraise, officers from various departments also participated in "No Shave November". Throughout November, the officers donated $1 to this year's Shop with a Cop event for each day they did not shave.
