Cochranton's Chase Miller is December's winner of the Northwest Pennsylvania C.L.A.S.S. Act Emerging Leader Award.

Eva Mastromatteo surprised the senior with the award during his AP Literature class.

The National Honors Society member and three sport athlete said that his time as team captain of Cochranton's basketball and cross country teams have helped him develop into a leader.

"Sports are a great way to learn how to become a leader, and it helps you learn that relationship with other people so that whenever you go out in the workforce and stuff," said Miller. "You can interpret what you learn as a captain of the team or something like that and go out and do that in the workforce as well."

Miller earned a $1,000 scholarship, and will have a chance to a $5,000 scholarship at the end of year.

Congratulations Chase Miller the most recent winner of the C.L.A.S.S. Act Scholarship.
