The Ontario Hockey League announced Friday that the league will once again use a lottery to determine the order of selection for the first four picks of the first round of the OHL Priority Selection. The four teams who do not qualify for the playoffs will be eligible for the lottery.

One change to the lottery format from the past few seasons will be the use of a weighted system. The last place team will receive a 40 percent chance at the first overall selection. The second, third and fourth place teams will have a thirty, twenty and ten percent chance at the top pick. The lottery system will also be used to determine the second through fourth selections.

The results of the Priority Selection Lottery will also be utilized for the order of selection for the first round of the 2023 OHL Under-18 Priority Selection and the first round of the 2023 CHL Import Draft.

The 2023 OHL Priority Selection will take place Friday, April 21. It will begin at 7 p.m. with rounds 1-3. The draft will conclude on Saturday, April 22 with round four starting at 9 a.m.
