State Police Still Investigating 1981 Disappearance of Lonene Rogers
Pennsylvania State Police in Meadville are still investigating the disappearance of Lonene Rogers more than 40 years later.
She was last seen on Jan. 7, 1981, at approximately 12:45 a.m. in her home at the Littles Corners area on State Hwy. 198 and 98 in Hayfield Township. That night, there was a severe snowstorm in the area, troopers said.
On the night of her disappearance, she had an argument with her husband at their residence, according to state police.
Her husband told police he awoke during the night and didn't see his wife, assuming she was sleeping on the couch. Her boots, jeans, and coat were gone, but her purse, hearing aids, and car keys were left behind when he awoke in the morning, he told investigators.
Her two children, who were ages one and six years, also remained at home, so he said he did not contact police right away.
None of her close friends or relatives have had any contact with Rogers since the day of her disappearance, according to state police. Her Social Security number has not see any activity, either.
When Rogers went missing, she was 5’5” and 140 lbs. with gray eyes and long, sandy brown hair. She cannot speak fluently and is nearly completely deaf. Rogers also has freckles, pierced ears and is missing her tonsils.
At the time of her disappearance, she may have been wearing a navy blue peacoat, blue jeans and high brown boots, troopers said.
