Inflation Hits Beer Industry as Prices Increase
Beer is now getting hit by inflation after largely avoiding it in last year. According to a USA Today/Bump Williams Consulting, the last 13 weeks of 2022 saw beer prices at retail rise by 7%. They say that number is "much higher than normal."
One local beer distributor owner says he does not like it when he has to raise prices. "It's not what we want to do, in fact, we'd give it away if we could but there's no money in that," said Erik Nielsen, owner of Grandview Beer 4 Less.
He also explained why he thinks prices are going up. "I heard it's because of shortages and sometimes there's shortages on glass, whether it be green or clear glass. Sometimes even aluminum," he said.
When asked about the name, "Beer 4 Less," he said, "we like to think we sell beer for less but you'll just have to stop in and see for yourself."
Grandview Beer 4 Less is open Monday-Saturday, 10AM-9PM, and Sunday, 10AM-5PM.
