While fuel prices may have come down from the record-breaking numbers last summer, both commercial and non-commercial drivers alike are frustrated with the price at the pump.

According to AAA, the price of diesel fuel is up by 71% since this time last year, January 2022.

"I'm spending $500, $600 a day on fuel," said Chris Mantel, a trucker with Mawson & Mawson Trucking. "A lot of these truck drivers, I hear them complaining, they got bigger tanks and the pump will actually shut off at $1,000."

With prices so high, Sheetz has begun offering a 50¢ per gallon discount on Diesel fuel through the end of January.

Some consumers hope this will lead to lower prices at the store.

"I hope [the lower price] that helps [truckers] with their purchasing and with their products so that they can hire more workers," said Luann Gatti, who was filling up her gasoline car at Sheetz. "And so that they can perhaps maybe pass some of that along to the consumer at the product end."
