Allegheny Names Interim Head Football Coach as Nagy Departs

Allegheny Director of Athletics Bill Ross announced Friday the school has named defensive coordinator Vann Hunt as the interim head football coach after Rich Nagy informed the program of his resignation.
Nagy has reportedly accepted the defensive coordinator position with Lehigh at the Division I FCS level.
According to the release from the school, Allegheny has begun a nationwide search for the program's 36 head coach.
"I want to thank Rich Nagy for his leadership and professionalism these past four years; our football program is in a much stronger position coming out of the pandemic because of it," Ross said. "We are very fortunate to have another strong leader in our midst in Vann Hunt, who will assume the reins as we embark on a national search for our next head football coach."
Nagy served as the head coach for the Gators for the last four seasons. Allegheny went 10-23 in four seasons with the Gators.
Hunt has been with Allegheny for six seasons. He began his tenure in 2017 as the team's recruiting and special teams coordinator. He was elevated to co-defensive coordinator in 2019. He took over sole responsibility of defensive play-calling at the start of the 2021 season.
