Dakota Hunter joined Erie News Now in January 2023 as a weather forecaster.

From nearby Jamestown, NY, Dakota’s interest in the weather came young after witnessing a cloud-to-ground lightning strike. He took that interest and applied it to countless hours of studying meteorology and forecasting.

His knowledge landed him a position with WNY News Now in Jamestown in September 2017, helping to build and lead the stations weather department, a spot he held for 5 years.

Dakota is very excited to be in Erie. He may from Bills Country, but you’ll find Dakota rooting for the Patriots, if he’s not out playing golf or exploring nature.
