A Millcreek Township police officer came to the rescue of a driver with a flat tire Thursday, the department said.

Patrolman Derek Speicher was on regular patrol when he noticed a disabled vehicle on W. 12th St. near Peninsula Dr. around 6:14 p.m.

It turned out the 76-year-old man behind the wheel had a flat tire.

When the driver told Speicher he had an extended wait for roadside assistance, the officer changed the tire, according to police.
