Perry Hi-Way Hose Company plans to discontinue providing mutual aid ambulance service to neighboring municipalities starting May 1.

The announcement came in a letter dated Feb. 6 which was sent to all affected municipalities.

Erie County Executive Brenton Davis said the county is aware of the situation and its negative impact.

In a letter to municipal officials, fire and EMS personnel, Davis asked everyone to work together to address the challenge and said the issue will be the focus of another EMS, fire and municipal leadership seminar tentatively scheduled for next month.

The Department of Health requires notification of changes in EMS response areas.
