Gary Gault and his wife from Jamestown, Pa., said they looked up just before 8 p.m. Sunday and saw what appeared to be a string of Christmas lights dangling across the sky.

Erie News Now has learned the lights are a string of satellites which were launched into orbit by Elon Musk's company SpaceX on Sunday.

A Falcon 9 rocket topped with 55 Starlink internet satellites lifted off from Cape Canaveral Space Force station in Florida just after noon on Sunday.

Residents in Waterford also reported seeing the lights.

Apparently, it's not the first time people have seen a string of lights like this recently.

Sources say sunlight reflects off the surface of the satellites as they pass overhead.
