Manor Motel Residents Respond to Millcreek Township Property Acquisitions
Last month, Millcreek Township General Authority voted to buy five properties within the Presque Isle Gateway District, the Bel Aire Hotel, Grasshopper, Joe Root's Grill, the SandBar Draft House & Grill, and the Manor Motel. They plan to demolish them but if the properties are demolished, that leaves residents at the Manor Motel with no place to live.
"We were told that by the middle of May, we were going to have to leave so what goes on from there we don't know," said Dale Bardwell, a Manor Motel resident.
"Millcreek told us that we were going to get some help but we have yet to hear from anyone," said Bardwell.
"If they worried about the old people, disabled people, and the veterans that live here, they would have certainly contacted us," said Bardwell.
"I feel sorry for these people here because it's unfair to the veterans and senior citizens, like myself, that live here," said Beverly Smock, a Manor Motel resident.
"God works in mysterious ways so maybe he can find us a place to live," said Smock.
Jim Bock, Millcreek Township Supervisor, who voted against the purchase, declined to comment.
Kim Clear, Millcreek Township Supervisor, did not respond for a comment.
