Wabtec Bids for Kids Event Raising Funds for Children's Charities
Wabtec Bids for Kids event was back in full swing this year raising funds for three children's charities.
Hundreds of Wabtec employees and managers gathered at the Bayfront Convention Center, and other company executives at the Duquesne Club in Pittsburgh to bid on all sorts of donated auction prizes and packages.
The event featured both a live and silent auction, all to raise funds for the Boys and Girls Club, the Make-a-Wish Foundation and Shriner's Hospital.
Over the last 28 years, the annual Bids for Kids event has raised nearly $2.3 million to provide hope and help to children.
The event is all organized by young Wabtec engineers and execs in the company's Leadership Program.
This year's chair Emily Kachel said it takes a real team effort. "This has been going on for 28 years, so there's an expectation of success. But you know each year we hope to get bigger and better and you know there's some pressure but there's a lot of support from our executive champions and a lot of Lead members that helped me as well."
When all the bids are counted Wabtec officials hope Bids for Kids 2023 will raised over $200,000.
