Trailers and construction trucks have made 5th and State Street their home for the past few years, but these projects are nearing completion.

30 apartments are currently being constructed and several of them have already been claimed. They're set to open at the end of spring, in addition to that, the ASCEND Rock Climbing Gym is set to open at the end of the summer.

Ryan Roover, the Experience Director with the EDDC said both the apartments and gym will have their own designated spaces. "We are going to have our very own entrance for the apartment residents. So when they come in, they won't have to worry about walking through that rock climbing wall gym that said, if they want to go rock wall climbing, they're really, really close."

Although, there's still work to be done, Hoover can start seeing the rock climbing gym coming together.  "Four story rock climbing wall on the backside of the building that will take up the entire side of the building. And these apartments are right above that. So the first two floors are mostly fitness activity open climbing. And then this huge rock climbing wall on the back, it seems like is going to be a really big hit", said Hoover.

Meantime, just up State Street, Lavery Brewing is almost done with its expansion. Owner, Jason Lavery explained why they chose to do the expansion in the winter. "Bars slow down generally anyways. January through February, so the timing worked out perfectly for us that we were able to you know, start construction in, you know, middle of January and then hopefully end it like the end of March. Unfortunately, we're not going to make St. Patrick's Day, which is a huge holiday for us, but we'll be right after that."

The projects includes doubling the Brewery's seating, from 64 to 110, a larger kitchen and moving the bar to give the space a new look. As Lavey explained, "Erie is our home where we wanted to be for the past thirteen years and so when the space right next to you becomes available. It's kind of a brain, no brain decision, you know, like it was an obvious decision and so glad we did it and can't wait for everybody to see it."

You may have noticed construction happening at Erie Insurance too. According to a statement from Erie Insurance. They are making capital improvements to the roof, skylight and windows and updating different building systems and technology at the Perry Square building.
