Erie VA Medical Center celebrated the opening of its new oncology clinic Friday.

It hosted a ceremonial ribbon cutting and open house at the facility, which is located on its E. 38th St. campus.

The clinic will provide comprehensive care and treatment to veterans diagnosed with various types of cancers.

It will offer infusion therapy in collaboration with the Pittsburgh VA.

"[This is] so important to the veterans of Erie and the surrounding areas," said John Gennaro, director of Erie VA Medical Center. "It means that we're going to get care back into the facility. We have a tremendous team who works with the veterans day in and day out. [We're] doubling the capacity of service for our veterans here."
