A Crawford County woman who pleaded no contest to fatally poisoning an 11-year-old child will spend at least a decade behind bars.

A judge on Wednesday sentenced Mary Diehl, 64, to serve 10 to 20 years in prison for third-degree murder.

The investigation started Sept. 6, 2021, when troopers were notified that the child's adoptive mother, who is Diehl, found the 11 year old dead in his bed at a residence on Mallard Rd. in East Fairfield Township, state police said.

Blood test results were obtained and showed poison in his blood, according to investigators. Diehl is accused of giving wiper fluid to the child who is disabled.

Diehl was arrested Nov. 8, 2021.
