Waldameer Hosts Summer Job Fair
Spring will be here soon and that means hiring is underway for summer jobs.
Waldameer and Water World held a job fair on Saturday where they hoped to get a jump start on filling up to 600 open positions this summer.
Gabrielle Laufer ,a student at McDowell was one of several people who attended Waldameer's job fair, she also walked out with a new job, a ride operator.
"It was easy to submit an application online and then coming in, everyone was really kind, really easy to talk to", said Laufer.
Waldameer officials are looking to fill a variety of positions this summer, from ride operators to food stand workers and life guards which is why they held a job fair early in the season.
As Steve Gorman, the President of Waldameer explained, "There's a lot of competition for summer jobs. So we, you know, it's March and we would like to be able to be the early bird and and try to get people who are interested in working for us this summer to lock them in."
While the park is quiet now. Officials are hoping after this weekend's job fair all these rides will be operated thanks to their new employees and even though opening days is still weeks away, Laufer said she can't wait to begin. "I'm really excited, I would recommend it to like all my friends, but I really wanted to work here since I was little. So this is a really big moment. I have all these memories from Waldameer and now you can actually be creating these memories for others", said Laufer.
