Millcreek Township Supervisors Host Open House and Receive Feedback on Plans
Millcreek residents got a chance to talk with the Township Supervisors about their Presque Isle Gateway District plans, including the General Authority's decision to buy five properties on West Eighth Street. Some residents have said that the General Authority was not transparent throughout the process but Supervisor, Daniel Ouellet, said that is not the case.
"Everything has been out in the open, it has been transparent and unfortunately it takes something like this for people to say yeah, it was there," Ouellet said.
Matthew Waldinger, Director of Planning and Development, said most of the feedback he has received from residents is positive. "They want to see a vibrant community and they want to see us pay attention to Presque Isle State Park because it's such a unique regional asset," Waldinger said.
Supervisors and residents in favor of the plans said the Millcreek economy is going to get a boost. "We are talking about, retail, entertainment, residential, that's the potential there," Ouellet said.
David Zimmer, a Millcreek resident, said, "this will not only increase the tax revenue base but also increase employment and it will increase the amount of dollars that are spent in our community."
