United to Suspend Service between Erie, Chicago O'Hare in June
United Airlines plans to suspend service between Erie and Chicago O'Hare International Airports starting June 2, an airline representative told Erie News Now on Thursday.
The airline called it a "difficult decision" and said it is reaching out to impacted customers to discuss options. No reason was provided.
Erie International Airport currently only provides service to Chicago O'Hare via United and to Charlotte, North Carolina, via American Airlines.
United previously offered flights between Erie and Washington Dulles from December 2020 through March 2021, and Delta suspended its service between Erie and Detroit in mid-2021.
United's decision to suspend service comes after the airline increased its capacity on some flights by using a different aircraft starting earlier this month.
