ERIE, Pa. (Erie News Now) — Drew Whiting has big plans for the building at the corner of 10th and State Street in downtown Erie.

Whiting, a managing principal of the company 10th and State LLC, said he plans to redevelop the building which currently houses Golf Evolution, 7-10 Cafe, and Comfort Care and Resources.

Drew and his wife, an Erie County native, moved to Erie from Chicago.

The family of his business partner is from Pittsburgh.

"I think there's an opportunity to take this corner and develop it, so that it becomes a connector," said Whiting.

Whiting said he plans to transform the exterior and interior of the building and open a golf simulator business with a bar that's fully licensed with a kitchen.

The family-friendly space would house up to nine different simulators.

"We will have the ability for serious golfers to come takes lessons do fittings and work on their game," said Whiting. "[It will be] friendly to the non-golfer with offerings of different type of sports within those simulator bays."

Whiting said he is using his experience in big city social entertainment to add more life to a smaller city.

The project started in August, and Whiting and his business partner closed on the building in October.

They hope to have the simulators operational in the fall.
