National Fuel is lowering gas supply charges starting Monday, according to a news release.

The adjustment decreases the monthly bill of a typical residential customer who uses 102,800 cubic feet of gas per year by $4.52, bringing the cost from $97.19 to $92.67.

The rate change is largely due to lower market prices for natural gas. National Fuel is required to pass along gas supply costs to customers dollar for dollar, with no mark-up or profit.

Pennsylvania utility companies are permitted to update gas supply charges on a quarterly basis. The next opportunity to adjust gas supply charges is Aug. 1.
