The National Alliance on Mental Health, 1 in six children between the ages of 6 and 17, experience a mental health disorder each year.

National Award-winning author Amanda Bacon-Davis shares her daughter's story of struggle in a book.

For seven years, beginning at the age of two, Amanda's daughter dealt with anxiety.

The book, "This Thing Has A Name," took just eight weeks for Bacon-Davis to write, and it offers guidance and understanding.

Her daughter is doing much better these days and doing more than coping.

Bacon-Davis shared these tips to help identify anxiety in your child.

Changes in behavior: Pay attention to changes in your child's behavior such as being clingy, difficulty in sleeping, or being irritable.

Physical symptoms: Children may not be able to describe how they feel emotionally, but they may complain of physical symptoms such as stomachaches, headaches or feeling sick.

Worries and fears: Children with anxiety may have excessive worries or fears that are difficult to control. For example, they may be afraid of going to school.

The book came out in the Summer of 2022 and can be purchased on Amazon.
