Emma and Dan Perritano of Harborcreek have embarked on a large-scale walk every year since 2015.

Emma and Dan's Annual Journey is the father-daughter duo's yearly tradition that raises money for a local organization of their choice and awareness for people with disabilities.

Emma, who was born with cerebral palsy, gets pushed in her wheelchair by her father, Dan, as they enjoy their exciting walking adventures all across the country.

"Every single day, something fun happens," Dan said. "We meet great people, and we eat really great food."

Today at Voices For Independence, a local nonprofit organization that empowers and advocates for people with disabilities, family and friends lined up to cheer for Emma and Dan for a proper sendoff celebration.

This year, they will be heading to Vermont in June where they will walk approximately 192 miles over the course of 14 days.

Voices For Independence, the choice organization, will be collecting the proceeds to benefit the fitness and wellness department at the organization.

"We provide activities for individuals with disabilities," said Brian Petersen, director of fitness and wellness at Voices For Independence. "Bingo, healthy living cooking, necessary skills [and] fitness and wellness."
