Plans for a rock climbing gym and apartments on 5th and State St. have been delayed from Spring 2023 to late Summer/early Fall.

The building has been under construction for several months, and will feature 30 one and two bedroom apartments, as well as a four-story climbing gym.

"The goal here is late summer or early fall for this to get ready," said Ryan Hoover, Experience Director with the Erie Downtown Development Corporation.

And if you're interested in one of those apartments downtown, it's best to move fast, as many apartments have already been claimed.

"I have 30 apartments open, but I already have 13 of the units claimed - that did not happen to us at the food hall [apartments]" continued Hoover, reflecting on how the Flagship City Apartments above the Flagship City Foodhall took several months before all units were rented out.

"So it feels we've maybe rounded a corner here. We have all these folks that are ready to move to Erie for great new jobs and schools and opportunities and now they have a great new modern place to live right in the heart of the city."
