Former Tech Memorial standout and Oakland Raiders legend Fred Biletnikoff on Thursday joined officials from Erie's Public Schools and the community for a groundbreaking ceremony on renovations to the field that bears his name.

The roughly $6 million project will turn Biletnikoff Field at Erie High School into a modern, multi-sport athletic facility.

Renovations include new artificial turf, a new concession stand, stadium seating, refurbished track-and-field event space and a regulation-size, all-weather track.

Biletnikoff is also set to throw out the first pitch at Thursday night's Erie SeaWolves game.
