Memorial Day weekend is considered the unofficial start to the summer camping season. Campgrounds in the area are preparing for a busy weekend.

If you're looking to go camping this weekend, hopefully you've made your reservations already. Places like Sara's Campground have been fully booked for Memorial Day since the end of January.

"We've gotten a few calls that when we tell them we're full, they ask for other suggestions," said Sara's Campground Owner Annie Candella. "I'll mention the ones there are and they'll say they're full too."

Although the spots for RV's and campers are full, tent camping is on a first come, first serve basis.

Candella tells us that the campground gets a lot out-of-town visitors. However, they see a lot of locals as well.

"We have a lot of locals that just come to enjoy the benefits of the state park, to enjoy being away from home, and be away from a lot of the chaos," said Candella.

Breanna Adams, the Director of Environmental Health Services at the Erie County Health Department, reminds everyone that as you head outside this Memorial Day weekend, make sure to wear repellant to protect yourself from mosquitoes and ticks.
