The two men killed in a plane crash at the Chautauqua County Jamestown Airport on Tuesday afternoon have been identified.

Pilot Roger Ryall, 52, of Toronto, Canada, and passenger David Hughes, 52, of British Columbia, were both killed.

The plane - a Cirrus SR-22 - was taking off for Waterloo, Ontario at the time of the crash, which was reported at 1:52 p.m. It caught fire and had to be extinguished. Officials said there is not much left of the plane, other than parts. Investigators said the plane's on-board parachute had been deployed.

It left Oshawa, Canada, on Tuesday morning, flew to Erie and then went to the Jamestown Airport to refuel.

The NTSB and FAA are investigating the crash.

The airport has since reopened.
