JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – A Jamestown mother is behind bars after police found her child wandering the streets Monday afternoon.

Officers responded to the city’s west side for a well-being check.

A good samaritan had discovered a three-year-old was wandering a very busy street without an adult around.

Officers were able to secure the child and locate their mother, 32-year-old Brandi Haight. After investigation, it was determined that the child was outside the residence for over an hour before the mother noticed.

The three-year-old was turned over to a family member while officers took Haight into custody.

She was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and is being held pending arraignment.
