Otters Receive Commitment From Top U18 Pick

The Erie Otters' top U18 selection, Brett Hammond, committed this afternoon.
Hammond played as a part of the Nepean Raiders U18 AAA program last season. The 6'2" forward tallied 29 goals and 55 points in just 37 games during the 2022-23 campaign.
General Manager Dave Brown announced Hammond as the first signing from the U18 Priority Selection Draft Class.
"Brett was someone who our staff watched closely throughout the season, and we are excited to continue to watch his growth within the Otters organization. Otters’ fans can expect Brett to play an exciting style; he plays a simple straight-line game and uses his physical attributes to remind us of previous power forwards."
Both Brown and Hammond describe his game as a power forward with plenty of goal-scoring upside. Hammond is looking forward to showcasing his skillset at the Erie Insurance Arena this fall.
"It means a lot to be given the chance to play hockey at such a high level, especially with the Erie Otters," said Hammond. "Now I'm really just anticipating the season while I develop over the summer."
