A restricted swimming advisory has been posted for Presque Isle State Park Beaches 6 and 8 due to elevated levels of E. coli, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

During Restricted Swimming, park visitors are not permitted to enter the water at the affected beach until an E. coli count is less than 1000 CFU per 100 mL of water. Beach 6's E. coli bacteria count is 1,900.9, and Beach 8's count is 1,056.8.

The beach is still open to the public for sunbathing and other recreation.

Re-testing has begun and will be performed daily until levels drop.

Swimming waters are tested twice weekly for public safety.
