Two people including a child were hurt in a boating accident on Erie's bayfront on the Fourth of July.

It was reported around 8:40 p.m.

The boat was towed to Dobbins Landing where an ambulance was waiting.

A seven-year-old girl was hurt when the boat's motor started having trouble, according to initial reports. Her skirt somehow got caught in the engine, and she was pulled.

She reportedly suffered several cuts on her legs and serious burns to her skin.

A second patient - a 29-year-old woman - fell into the water during the incident and cut her knee.

Emergency crews rushed both to the nearby UPMC Hamot for treatment.
