The Cork 1794 has been honored for its wine program in Wine Spectator's 2023 Restaurant Awards, which celebrates the world's best restaurants for wine. 

The Cork is the only restaurant in the region that has received this award this year. 

The Restaurant Awards was launched in 1981, the world's only program focused exclusively on restaurant wine service. 

The awards are assigned on three levels: the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence and the Grand Award. 

The Cork has won the Award of Excellence which recognizes restaurants whose wine lists feature a well-chosen assortment of quality producers along with a thematic match to the menu in price and style.

Wine Spectator's special Restaurant Awards issue becomes available to readers on July 11.  

The Cork plans to host an official celebration on the patio in August once the physical award is in Erie.
