The Erie Junior Commodores U19 soccer team is making local history.

For the first time ever, the squad is playing in the national championship tournament in Denver, Colo.

The team won its bracket on Sunday with one win, two ties, and only two goals allowed in their matches so far.

This team is composed of several scholarship players from the inner city and refugee communities as well.

They are moving on to the Elite 8 playoff round on Monday to face Tonka Fusion Elite at 11 a.m. local time (MT), which means 1 p.m. in Erie (ET).
