Given that the city of Warren is surrounded by woods, residents know that Michael Burham could be anywhere so they are taking precautions to remain safe.

With Burham's alleged kidnapping of an elderly couple and having them drive him to South Carolina, some residents are worried about Warren's elderly population.

"I know my grandparents are worried about houses getting broken into and more people getting hurt," said Tyler Phelps, a Warren resident.

"This is not something that they are used to, we have a very low crime rate in Warren County when it comes to any type of violent crime," said Nicole Peterson, a Warren resident.

Jan Garrett, a Warren resident, is not worried about Burham coming to his home and even though he knows law enforcement is advising residents to not approach Burham, he says he is using his right to ensure that he and his family remain safe.

"Until he is captured, I will be sitting here, armed because I have the right to bear arms and my wife and I both have permits," Garrett said.

"Residents feel safe because of many reasons, one of the reasons is because people do exercise their Second Amendment rights," Peterson said.
