Police and rescue crews were called out to the Wabtec plant in Lawrence Park Monday morning after several of the union workers taking part in the ongoing strike there were reportedly hit by a car.

This all happened a little before the start of first shift at the locomotive plant. That's where picket lines have been set up for the past several weeks.

We're getting reports that at least three of the striking workers who were picketing near the plant's Franklin Street entrance were hit, with some going to the hospital.

No word yet on the severity of the injuries, or the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Just last week, striking union workers from Wabtec protested outside Erie's Avalon Hotel, saying what they refer to as "scab" workers were staying there.
