It was standing room only in the board room as Cavanagh was welcomed into his new position as Millcreek Township School District Superintendent.

He's been involved in the district for over 20 years in administration, teaching, and central office roles.

Now, as superintendent he says he hopes to make decisions with the input of those in district whether it be district families or staff.

"I'm just excited to have the opportunity to facilitate change from the higher level. We have so many outstanding families, so many wonderful students, and we have some great teachers throughout the district that I want to be in front of, and help and move to where they think we need to go," Cavanagh said.

Dr. John Cavanagh replaces Dr. Ian Roberts who left the role as superintendent on July 1 after three years on the job.
