While spending time in our area on Tuesday, Governor Josh Shapiro paid a visit to the Warren County family who helped apprehend fugitive Michael Burham.

Ron and Cindy Ecklund called police 10 days ago when their dog alerted them to a man in the woods on their property.  Police were able to apprehend Burham, who had escaped the Warren County Jail nine days before.

The Ecklunds said Shapiro had called last week to thank them, but they were stunned when he came to visit and present them with a reward check.

"That's pretty incredible, to have him stop in is one thing," said Cindy Ecklund. "But to have him play with the dog and have conservations and just be interested in us is huge."

Shapiro says although Burham is back behind bars, law enforcement agencies need to thoroughly investigate how he escaped, and make sure it can't happen again.
