In a dedication ceremony, St. Patrick's Haven on East 12th Street reopened its doors on Saturday.

Shelter officials said the haven provides a ministry of presence and a warm, safe place for the homeless men of Erie to stay.

Last September the facility was damaged in a fire forcing 24 men who were staying there to evacuate. The fire caused extensive damage to the outside corner of the building, while the inside sustained significant water and smoke damage.

After helping homeless men in Erie for almost 40 years, St. Patrick's Haven was committed to getting its doors open again and they credit the support of the community for making it ready to help others.
