A man has been charged with homicide after a body was discovered in the backyard of a home on Erie's east side earlier this month.

Police have arrested Tyjahmon Crosby, 20, of Erie, and charged him with homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, firearms not to be carried without a license, possession of instrument of crime and recklessly endangering another person.

Crosby shot the victim - identified as Jaquan Burrows, 21 - on the afternoon of July 22, according to police. Burrows was shot at least once in the chest.

Burrows then stumbled off the bike he was riding, fled across Ash St., jumped a chainlink fence and fell to the ground behind an abandoned home in the 900 block of Ash St. according to investigators. That's where Burrows' body was found by family Aug. 2.

Police used surveillance videos from around the crime scene to positively identify Crosby as the shooter.

Crosby appeared at the Erie Police Department of his own volition when they started to investigate a missing person's report July 27, police said.

He claims Burrows was the aggressor that day, but police said the videos show otherwise.

Crosby is being held in the Erie County prison. He was denied bail due to the homicide charge.
