Weight Limit Posted on Route 27 in Sugar Grove Township, Warren County
A weight limit has been posted on the bridge that carries Route 27 over Matthews Run in Sugar Grove Township, Warren County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Wednesday.
The new restriction will limit the weight crossing it to 24 tons or 35 tons for combination loads. Vehicles exceeding the posted weight limit are required to use alternate routes.
It comes after a routine inspection uncovered deterioration to the 32-foot concrete structure.
The new weight restriction will reduce strain on the bridge until repairs or a replacement can occur. Work on the bridge is expected in 2025.
The bridge was built in 1931 and is classified as being in poor condition. Approximately 1,100 vehicles use the bridge each day.
