ANNA Wellness Center Corry Closing End of September

After 12 years of operations, the ANNA Wellness Center in Corry will soon be closing its doors.
"It wasn't that business wasn't there," said Ruth Thompson, founder and director of The ANNA Shelter. "It's just literally we didn't have the staff."
According to Thompson, however, the Corry building itself will go up for sale, but the operations won't necessarily cease.
"We're not closing Corry, we're merging it with our West Side clinic," Thompson said.
Thompson mentioned the majority of staff in Corry lived in Erie, so tradeoffs were considered in this decision.
"For a client to have to drive once or twice a year 40 minutes versus a staff member that's driving every day 40 minutes to go to work," Thompson said. "Yeah, just kind of made more sense for us."
The ANNA Wellness Center West located at 5617 West 26th Street will add a second full-time vet, Dr. Sarah Zeigler, who is coming from the Corry location.
It will also give more access to resources like in-house diagnostics, an X-ray machine and a blood lab.
"A lot of the things that we didn't have out in Corry, so it's actually going to be offering people a better service," Thompson said.
Through these changes, Thompson says the shelter is staying true to its mission.
"We still want to provide the support to publicly owned animals, but we just have to do it where it works out for everybody," Thompson said.
