Troopers Track Down Truck, Driver in Fatal Hit-and-Run involving Motorcycle on Edinboro Rd.
Pennsylvania State Police have tracked down the truck and driver involved in a hit-and-run which killed a motorcyclist in Washington Township, Erie County, on Saturday.
It happened in the 10700 block of Edinboro Rd., which is north of Woodbriar Way, at 3:41 p.m.
State police on Sunday said they located and seized the dark-colored Dodge Ram truck involved in the incident. Troopers said they also identified the driver, a 72-year-old man, who provided a statement to investigators.
The crash claimed the life of Dustin Koszarek, 30.
Koszarek was driving north on a black Suzuki motorcycle and was attempting to legally pass the truck when the driver attempted to make a left turn, hitting the motorcycle, according to investigators.
He lost control of the motorcycle and crashed along the west side of the road where he died from his injuries, troopers said.
The truck took off southbound on Edinboro Rd., turned east on Old State and then south on Hamilton Rd. before witnesses lost sight of the truck, according to state police.
Troopers said the investigation is ongoing, and criminal charges are pending the completion of the investigation and a case review by the Erie County District Attorney's Office.
