Rescuers from Presque Isle State Park and Millcreek Township responded to reports of a near drowning Sunday afternoon.

The incident involving a family happened around 3:30 p.m. in the water off Presque Isle State Park between Beach 9 and Lighthouse Beach.

A 7-year-old girl was underwater for a couple of minutes, according to initial reports from the scene.

Her parents, who rushed in to save her, got some mouthfuls of water.

All three were transported to UPMC Hamot with symptoms from vomiting to abdominal pain.
